Reinstatement of EMC on 1 July 2023

Dear Valued Agents,

From 1 July 2023, the Environmental Management Charge (EMC) will be reinstated. Lady Musgrave Experience is required to collect and remit these fees to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS). EMC had previously been waived by the GBRMPA and QPWS since 2020 due to the impacts of COVID-19.

What is the EMC?

The funds received from the environmental management charge are vitally important in the day-to-day management of the Marine Park and in improving its long-term resilience. All funds received as environmental management charge payments are applied directly to the management of the Marine Park. At the same time, visitation information provided when the environmental management charge is submitted greatly assists the Reef Authority and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service in developing management arrangements for the sustainable use of the Marine Park.

How will EMC be charged?

A non-commissionable fee of $10 per passenger over 4 years old will be added and itemised in booking orders.
This is not an extra charge being imposed by Lady Musgrave Experience, but a legal obligation of ours to collect and remit the collected funds to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming your clients to the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

Kind regards,

Lady Musgrave Experience Sales Team
