Lady Musgrave Island Ban Fishing Petition
Here at Lady Musgrave Experience we fully support the petition that has been started to ban all fishing in the Lady Musgrave Island, Lagoon & Reef.
We fully support making the Lady Musgrave Island, Lagoon & Reef a 100% designated Green Zone.
As it stands today a small part of the Lady Musgrave Reef Wall and the Lagoon is a designated Green Zone by GBRMPA – you can see this in the designated zoning map below.
It doesn’t stop fishermen from entering the lagoon and spear fishing or line fishing at will. Over the years we have seen it time and time again – recreational fisherman entering the lagoon and plundering the fish species present, for what?
Signing The Ban Fishing Petition Can Make An Impact
The current zoning does not protect the marine environment sufficiently. It is just not enough to protect this pristine marine environment for the enjoyment of the broader public.
We pride ourselves on our own environmental standards on Lady Musgrave Island, Lagoon & the Reef. We have established The Best Experience on the Great Barrier Reef to ensure the whole community gets to enjoy a pristine reef environment on the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
Our position is clear – Lady Musgrave Island, Lagoon & Reef should be a 100% Green Zone for the world to enjoy for generations to come, not just today’s fishermen.
There are a host of alternate fishing options close by & elsewhere, where fishermen can enjoy their recreational activities – there is absolutely no need to fish the most protected lagoon & fish habitat on the Southern Great Barrier Reef. We must preserve this environment for future generations.

The Lady Musgrave Island, Lagoon & Reef is absolutely unique. As the only navigable lagoon on the whole of the Great Barrier Reef it is the perfect, pristine nursery for all tropical fish and reef species – it is something we want to preserve for ever.
We fully support the 100% Green Zone Protection of the whole Lady Musgrave Island, Lagoon & Reef and fully support this petition.
We call on the Australian Federal Government, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority & the Queensland Government to cut through red tape and make this happen, immediately.
We love the Great Barrier Reef and want to preserve it for all future generations. Here at Lady Musgrave Experience we have signed the petition – support the protection of the fish on the reef and sign it too…
